‘I read it Mumma’ – The end of the bedtime story as we know it.

Where did my gurgling little baby go?!

I am now faced with a strong minded, stubborn little toddler, who never stays still and who is increasingly is doing my jobs! And jobs that I enjoy at that!

Baby B has followed in my footsteps as a book lover. I love a good book, sadly reading is real luxury these days, as I am sure it is for most parents, but that hasn’t detered me from continuing to buy books. Nothing like a lovely full bookcase of unread material to make the living room look cosy and cluttered eh! 🙂

Happy surrounded by his books

I take great pleasure in buying B books and even greater pleasure in reading to him. I nearly got started on one of my childhood favs the other day until my husband suggested that  perhaps the ‘Hound of the Baskervilles’ might be a little heavy for a 27 month old.

So until he is old enough to enough a good Sherlock Holmes mystery I will stick with ‘Farmyard Hullaballoo’ and ‘Commotion in the Ocean’. The thing is, as we read B’s books every night and occasionally during a quiet moment in the day, he has begun to learn the words and memorise how it is read.

Now as i get comfortable for our evening read I am met with ‘I read it Mumma’. And read it he does……

What’s next, dressing himself, bathing himself….Nooooooooo!
