What with all this travelling we have been doing of late (well, two trips in a month) I am feeling very privileged not to mention ‘international’. The timing couldn’t have been better when I was offered the Jowsa the Nappy Genie service to review.
Jowsa the Nappy Genie is designed to help take the stress out of packing for your little one’s when travelling abroad. How you may ask? Well Jowsa sends the essential items you need ahead of you so when you arrive at your destination they are already there. It is such a genius idea and one that I bet you have all thought of as parents. I certainly have.
The amount of space that nappies and large containers of formula take up in your suitcase is notable. Not to mention getting stung for excess weight even if you do have the room! When Baby B was younger we often ended up having to sacrifice an item or two to make space for them. The service makes a great deal of sense.
Sadly, Jowsa do not deliver to Sri Lanka just yet (we are going there next week), though they are expanding their service all the time. They do however cover Switzerland, so in the absence of Baby B we reviewed the service with our friends beautiful 9 month old daughter Dorothy. A prime candidate to require and benefit from Jowsa’s service.
We requested nappies, wipes, Sudocrem, Calpol which came in sachets so no risk of broken glass in transit. We also ordered plasters though I have to admit they were to be kept for Baby B on our return! The ordering process is easy on the Jowsa website, where you simply pick what you need and add the items to a basket like you would with any online retailer. You obviously need the exact details of where you are staying to ensure a trouble free box arrival!
On arrival, there was my box, ready and waiting. James from Jowsa had arranged this in only a couple of days as I was a bit late with the order so I was very impressed to see it there. Everything was perfectly packaged, no unnecessary frills, just the essentials that were requested in the box.
The items are all brands, the ones we know and love, there are no cheap alternatives.
Honestly, Jowsa is a very useful and easy to use service. Not having to worry about packing the large bulky items like nappies, formula and food can make a trip considerably lighter and removes any anxiety of worrying about buying bits abroad. Luggage space on winter holidays is all the more precious so our friends said they really were grateful (although a tad nervous!) about not packing some of Dorothy’s essentials!
Well I have to say their anxiousness was short lived on their arrival. I would certainly consider the Jowsa service for any future trips abroad with Baby B, who always seems to end up with a bigger suitcase then my husband and I put together!

NB: We tried the service free of charge for the purpose of this review.
