Review: The Book of Everyone

There are some people, that are particularly tricky to buy presents for. You know the ones, they smile politely whilst saying ‘Ohhhh, thanks so much, that’s really lovely. Different but lovely’, or “Ah, wow, thanks, I would never have picked it for myself but it’s great”.

Years later, you have never seen said item on them or on their possession. You know it’s ended up being re-gifted, exchanged or worse, hoarded away never to see the light of day again. Actually, we’ve all been that person. Amazing how people get it soo wrong after knowing you for so long isn’t it!

Anyway, this is the genius of The Book of Everyone. It is personal, thoughtful, genuinely interesting and not a gift that can be re-gifted! Well, unless the person you are gifting it to happens to have the same name and date of birth.

So how does it work? You choose your book, compile it and order The Book of Everyone online. Options range from digital copies to luxury hard copies delivered to your door. The process is simple, insert the details of the person the book is for. Their name, date of birth and a couple of lines here and there and a number of pictures. Hey presto, you have a lovely book about them, their age and the year they were born.

In reviewing The Book of Everyone, I prepared a digital book for my darling husband whose birthday is in December. If like me you have a December birthday in the family, you will appreciate the effort that has to be exerted in finding two sets of presents, for the same person in one month.

The Book of Everyone is, and I mean it, is absolutely ideal as a personal gift. It was very simple to put together, with clear steps and instructions. It took me 10 minutes from cover to cover.

My husband loves facts, and takes an interest in things that frankly I turn a blind eye too. The stats and facts concerning his year of birth will be a hands down winner. In fact, even I would be interested in reading the same facts relevant to my year and date of birth. I love the hash #peopleareamazing which The Book of Everyone people use. The book really celebrates you and the world that was when you were born. For slightly older people, there is a very nostalgic element to the gift. Even better, The Book of Everyone is currently collaborating with Age UK, so every book you buy goes towards the “gifting” of a book for an elderly person who may not receive a gift, because after all amazing people deserve an amazing gift.

Personally I feel that a soft or hard copy of the book would be more impressive than a digital copy . Being able to flick through the book and place it on your shelf is important for any kind of book I feel, but hey, maybe I am a traditionalist that way. I LOVE a book. However, for family and friends living abroad or last-minute gifts, the digital book is perfect

The Book the Everyone 3

As I write this, my husband has not actually received the book as I am saving it for his birthday but from the perspective of the giver, The Book of Everyone really is one for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process and look forward to bashing more out for family and friends in the very near future.

NB – This gift is not suitable for individuals who are sensitive about their age! Like my Dad for example, for a number of years he has tried to convince he is some 10 years younger than he is! 🙂

I was provided a complimentary digital copy for the purpose of this review
